Preparation
- Participants:
- Product owner
- Scrum master
- Team members
- Product backlog is prepared (items are estimated and ordered) and visible for everyone
- Planning poker cards are distributed
- Duration: 90 minutes
- Agenda, goal, overview (what is this meeting about?)
- Product owner shows and describes the backlog items
- Team gets all required information about the backlog item
- Team estimates the backlog items (planning poker, magic estimations, …)
- Backlog items will be splitted if they’re too big.
- this goes on until the time is over or all backlog items are estimated
- Goal: Team has a better understanding of the backlog items, splitted them into smaller ones and estimated them, open questions are noted
- big backlog items must be splitted into smaller ones
- the product owner does not estimate the items, because he’s not the one who implements it
- prioritization of the backlog item can be done via “value estimation meetings”
- team works together with the product owner on the requirements – agile also means that business people and technical people work together
